OPEN BOOK— The 2012 Assessment roll will be open for inspection on Thursday, May 3, 2012 from11:00 A.M. – 1:00 P.M. at the Town Hall.  Any property owner that has questions about their assessment should come and discuss these concerns with the Town’s Assessor and try to resolve all assessment questions.  Please schedule an appointment with Associated Appraisal at 1-800-721-4157.  Bring your notice to your scheduled appointment.


BOARD OF REVIEW—Propertyowners who cannotresolve their assessment problems with the Assessor at Open Book can file an objection form and schedule an appointment to appear before the Board of Review at the TownHall on Tuesday, May 22, 2012 from 6:00 P.M. – 8:00 P.M.  An appointment is necessary to appear before the Board. Please call the Town of Chilton Office at 849-4720 to schedule an appointment.  Please leave a message if no one answers.  Your call will be returned.


Please be advised of the following procedures according to WI. State Statute 70.47 (7).


No person shall be allowed to appear before the Board of Review, to testify to the Board by telephone or to contest the amount of any assessment of real or personal property if the person has refused a reasonable written request by certified mail of the Assessor to view such property.


After the first meeting of the Board of Review and before the final adjournment, no person who is scheduled to appear before the Board of Review may contact, or provide information to, a member of the Board about a person’s objection except at a session of the Board.


A 48 hour notice before the Board of Review’s first meeting is required to:

(1)  Appear before the Board with an objection. (Unless waiver is granted)

(2)  Remove a member of the Board of Review.


When appearing before the Board, the person shall specify, in writing, the person’s estimate of the value of the land and of the improvements that are the subject of the person’s objection and specify the information that the person used to arrive at that estimate.


The Board shall hear upon oath, by telephone, all ill or disabled persons who present to the Board a letter from a physician, surgeon, or osteopath that confirms their illness or disability.  No other person may testify by telephone.
